About 30 years ago I was a chef at a country club in Spartanburg SC. My girlfriend at the time, really wanted to get a fancy embroidery machine for selling crafts and what now. I was young so I said sure…
Six months later we have this cool machine, and I need a new chef’s coat, so I sew one out using a new Polyester embroidery thread we found… Poly is not bleach reactive, so now when I got my coat all messed up in the kitchen I could just bleach it to death and the embroidery didn’t wash out… in 1999 that was a BIG DEAL. All my work friends wanted their own. And “Put it in Stitches!” was Started.
Every weekend we would drive down to Georgia to a shirt sew house to get shirts wholesale, then on the way back to the upstate we would stop at the Anderson Jockey Lot and sell shirts and Monogramming…
I eventually got a job with Marriott as a chef, so PIIS took a back seat, I found the love of my life, another chef we poached from Biltmore House, moved all over the south east, then moved to Charlotte NC. I eventually moved into Sales and then Data Engineering, and had a daughter. Now she needed stuff for Softball and Band, So Garment Forge LLC started. Most recently we got back the Put It In Stitches domain and company name, so now all the embroidery and monogramming you can think of can be put into stitches right here at www.putitinstitches.com.
